The Daily Show Is Satire On The COMEDY CHANNEL!!!!!

To me, the best satire is one that takes a look at some event, and then builds off of that event in a way that is plausible, and then just goes over the top in some way. It could be taking the event and extending it to the extreme or it can be an explanation that starts in truth and then ends in the absurd.

I tend to like irony so if irony is involved, I think the satire is likely to be successful.

To me, that was the goodness of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

If anyone went to that show to get "news", then they are the one's who have the problem. How can you go to...

Anyone who claims Jon Stewart was anyway dishonest in "presenting news," is part of the joke and shows the brilliance of the show. They have been P*WNED!

The calls came as soon as Shaquille O'Neal decided to retire, all wanting to hire one of the NBA's greatest entertainers.

TNT's "Inside the NBA" studio show had been O'Neal's favorite as a player, so the choice was easy.

Get ready for the Big Analyzer, Big Commentator, or whatever other nickname he takes in the next phase of his career.

O'Neal agreed Thursday to a multiyear deal with Turner Sports to become an analyst on its NBA coverage, where he will fold his 7-foot-1 frame into the fourth chair on the TNT set alongside Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson.

"I'm just going to try to make it more fun than it already is," O'Neal said during a conference call.

Don't they have to TALK and BE UNDERSTOOD?

 

Fox News vs. Comedy Central

How can Chis Wallace be serious in comparing Fox News to Comedy Central?

Isn't NEWS different in focus and presentation than COMEDY?

I mean, DAMN! I understand trying to "defend" your employer, but how do you defend your employer by trying to draw an equivalence between the two networks?

I Don't Know Why I Keep Watching This

OK, these have me ready to spend money on mindless activities that I think I will enjoy.

"X Men", "Green Lantern", "Transformers", "Planet of the Apes",  "Harry Potter" and "Cars 2". The movie companies will be getting bank off of me.

Not An Oprah Fan, But Giving Props Where Due

Because of early encounters with Oprah Winfry in Baltimore, I'm not an Oprah Winfrey fan, but I have to give her respect for what she has done.

I was watching the second to last show with my wife where I found out:

1. She has help fund the education of 60,000+ children.
2. She has a scholarship for the young men at Morehouse College.
3. She is the best television talk show host in television history; period.

She has my respect on those 3 points.

Leslie Nielsen's Airplane is Grounded

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Leslie Nielsen, who went from drama to
inspired bumbling as a hapless doctor in "Airplane!" and the
accident-prone detective Frank Drebin in the "Naked Gun" comedies, has
died. He was 84.

His agent John S. Kelly says Nielsen died Sunday at a hospital near
his home in Ft. Lauderdale where he was being treated for pneumonia.

Da Hate

Why the hate on Tyler Perry for bringing a play done in the 70s to the big screen? Perry did the screen play, with collaboration of the original author and, he claims, he couldn't do the movie without putting in "one good man."

And I'm not even going to get into how he has built wealth AND entertainment power by catering to "us folks." I don't get into the male bashing, but I'm just saying I think it's over the top. Don't blame Perry, blame the author of the play and book.

The Last Airbender

A world is full of people who can master only one fundamental element. A person is born who has the ability to master all "fundamental elements" but that person is born into a group of people who master one element. When that person dies, he/she is born again to another group of people who master a different element. The person grows up and learns, again, to master all elements, and the Avatar line continues.

That's multiculturalism with a heavy dose of Earth worshiping.

I LOVED the anime series and look forward to seeing the movie.

Forgive Me, Oh Grilling gods...

But I've decided to get a gas grill.

Last year, around this date, my cousin died from prostate cancer. His family had a strong history of prostate cancer so i guess he was high risk, but one of the things he did on a regular basis was to eat charcoal grilled chicken.

I can't get that off my mind along with the research that shows a link between charcoal cook food and prostate cancer.

So, I apologize for YEARS of mocking against the gas grillers. :-)

Political Grinch

She's done. Even if her conviction gets over turned and she wins out on the other case and retrial, she's done.

Mickey Owns Spiderman

At first I was mad that Marvel Comics "sold out" to Disney, but then when I thought about it, it made perfect sense.

For Disney, they get the fast track to obtaining the rights to the Marvel Comics characters AND some of the talent Marvel has.

For Marvel, they get the deep pockets of Disney and greatly increases their chances of survival in a "new world" where reading of newspapers and magazines are down. My assumption is, in this new age, comic book sales are drastically down as well.

This is a good deal for all involved.

Her performance at the White House Correspondent's Dinner was probably more appropriate for her club act than for the dinner. But even with that, the "cries" over her comments about Rush Limbaugh are way out of order.

If the same people didn't complain when Rush Limbaugh "joked" that heroine users should OD and die, then they have no standing to complain now.

The former seemed to be about a culture of conspicuous consumption while the latter seemed to be about people living in their culture of having money. With that in mind, this didn't come as a surprise but I hope this is not as is being reported and assumed. Even so, she really has no class.
• I'm bored with politics, but this is just straight up gangsta. Dollar Bill Jeffer$on has NOTHING on this dude!
