Republican politicians who support the anti-net neutrality ruling are either technology idiots or their votes have been paid for by the Internet backbone companies or both. This is what I see happening.
Verizon will go to Google and say, "YouTube traffic is 30% of our back bone and last mile traffic. We are requiring that you pay us extra or we will reduce the YouTube bandwidth over our back bone by 20%."
But check this out it won't stop there.
Verizon will go to their users and say, "Your home usage indicates you streams movies from NetFlix or Amazon that is 20% of your Internet traffic. This puts you in our high use category. As a high use customer, we will add a high use fee to your service. BTW, if you use our FIOS package, on demand services won't count against your network usage."
Then they'll go to Netflix and say a similar thing they said to YouTube. Then Netflix will send you a letter telling you they have raised your rates.
This ruling stinks.
