Al Sharpton seems to have a recurring habit of not paying bills. I remember the old school thinking that Blacks had to be twice as good at everything, which also meant paying your bills on time. 

Trade association claims Al Sharpton's group owes $28,000 in unpaid rent

For the leaders of a minority trade organization with some extra office space in downtown D.C., it seemed like the Rev. Al Sharpton was the perfect tenant.

But a year and a half after the activist/MSNBC host signed a lease for his National Action Network to sublet from the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials, the two groups are feuding over past-due rent.

Julie Cunningham, COMTO’s president and chief executive, told us that with the lease about to expire Friday, NAN was seven months behind in its payments, a total debt of more than $28,000

Didn't he just have an issue over the summer concerning the non-payment of car insurance?

Happy Thanksgiving

I'm really thankful to God for waking me up this morning. In the past few months I've learned that people I know and love have had sicknesses of differing degrees and I've heard about the deaths of others. 

Life really is precious and today, but just not today, I give thanks to all who are around me. 

When you hear about the sudden death of someone you "know" on superficial level and then see the out pouring of love, support, and encouragement to stay strong in God, it just wells up inside, and again puts things in their proper perspective.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) today released the following statement on reports that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) was responsible for removing references to Al-Qaeda from the unclassified talking points about the Benghazi attack that Ambassador Susan Rice and other officials used in the early days after September 11, 2012:

“I am somewhat surprised and frustrated to read reports that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence was responsible for removing references to Al-Qaeda from the unclassified talking points about the Benghazi attack that Ambassador Susan Rice and other officials used in the early days after September 11, 2012. I participated in hours of hearings in the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence last week regarding the events in Benghazi, where senior intelligence officials were asked this very question, and all of them – including the Director of National Intelligence himself – told us that they did not know who made the changes. Now we have to read the answers to our questions in the media. There are many other questions that remain unanswered. But this latest episode is another reason why many of us are so frustrated with, and suspicious of, the actions of this Administration when it comes to the Benghazi attack.”

My emphasis added. This is a great big mess. I'm now convinced the administration is hiding a spying operation that was going on in that complex.

Pondering If The Profit Is Worth The Loss of Family Time

"Back in the day" I remember very long shopping lists being generated before the holidays so the shopping could be completed because the stores weren't open on the holiday. On the holiday, the store was closed and if you didn't get something, you either went without or went to a neighbor asking for something.

While the convenience of having the store open is nice, I feel for the people working because their family time is abbreviated. Is the profit worth it?

Mitt Romney lost the election and now he's blaming the loss on "minorities" and "young folks" who were swayed by President Obama's "gifts".

"What the president, president's campaign did was focus on certain members of his base coalition, give them extraordinary financial gifts from the government, and then work very aggressively to turn them out to vote," Romney said in the afternoon call, according to audio aired on ABC News.

"With regards to the young people, for instance, a forgiveness of college loan interest, was a big gift," Romney said, according to The New York Times.

"Free contraceptives were very big with young college-aged women," he continued. "And then, finally, Obamacare also made a difference for them, because as you know, anybody now 26 years of age and younger was now going to be part of their parents' plan, and that was a big gift to young people. They turned out in large numbers, a larger share in this election even than in 2008."

The president's health care reform plan, he added, also brought out support from African Americans and Hispanic voters.


Let's see. Forgiveness of college loans hasn't been done, so how is that a gift? Also, Romney said he would push for increasing Pell Grants and offering more of them.

And then there is ObamaCare, which Romney said there are aspects that he liked and wanted to keep, like, ohhhhh, increased dependent coverage age! and portability!

I wonder what his "minority outreach" person, Tara Wall, has to say about his comments.

Coloreds Not Welcome

After listening to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reily, and Laura Ingram. After reading some opinion pieces by conservatives. After reading the rants on Twitter, all I can say is, the Republican Party, the Grand Ole Party, has put out a sign that says, Coloreds Not Welcome.

 

Obama Won, Part 2 (What It May Mean)

President Obama won re-election. Here is what I think it may mean for the following areas:

Economy

What his administration has done to tis point hasn't worked, so I don't expect anything his administration will do in his second term to work. The housing market is rebounding, but from what I can tell, the actions by his administration aren't responsible for the rebound. In this case, the speculators and families waiting to buy houses at bargain prices are the reason why the market looks like it is rebounding.

Energy

To put it directly, I think the U.S. population is going to get hosed with energy prices. The current Obama administration is pushing policies to make burning coal less viable, i.e. more expensive. Some energy companies have taken coal burning plants off line be of coal burning regulations the Obama administration is pushing. Given President Obama's stated desire to see gas prices rise to promote conservation, I don't see the Obama administration doing anything to encourage more oil drilling and exploration.

World Affairs

I have no clue. Until the Libya fiasco, I thought President Obama was doing a respectable job. His administration has been aggressive in killing terrorists and, frankly, I don't think there is much that can be done about the Middle East except wait for things to happen and then react. I fully expect Israel to take out Iran's nuclear capability with a lot of U.S. support. However, with Libya, it may have been a tragic comedy of errors that lead to the result, but the cover up is always what gets people in trouble. 

Wait... He won re-election. What trouble?

Black Folks

It's just more feel good poster material for some Black people but nothing more and nothing less. I don't expect President Obama to push any "Black issues."

 

Obama Won, Part 1

President Obama won re-election and I wonder if the primary reason was the Republican Party over reach on voter identification.

In Florida the Republican former governor said it was a plan to suppress votes and then there was the Republican hired group that was messing with the voter registration. In Pennsylvania they changed the rules but a Republican official stated the changes will help Romney win and another said, in court under oath, there was no previous case of in person vote fraud.

In Florida, again, the governor tried to end early voting while people were in line.

The non-Cuban Latino vote went for Obama, so I guess the Republican approach to immigration reform didn't work out.

The Republican Party nominated a man who enacted ObamaCare, beta version, said GM should go to bankruptcy, showed disdain for 48% of the population, and said he wanted to defund Big Bird. And he never really detailed his economic plan.

The Republican Party ran against a weak candidate and lost.
