You bench McNabb for a scrub who IMMEDIATELY commits a turnover, give lame excuses why you benched him, and NOW you give him a multi-year, $78 million extension?
Donovan McNabb will be Mike Shanahan's quarterback beyond 2010, McNabb's agent confirmed.
"We're very happy about the situation," Fletcher Smith said. "We've been working on this for a while now, and we're obviously glad to get it done. Donovan's very happy about the situation because this is where he wanted to be all along.
"From the first day we spoke, I told you this is what Donovan wanted: to have a long career in Washington and end his career here. That never changed. And the fact that we could get this done tonight, with the Redskins playing the Eagles on Monday night and everything that goes with that, I couldn't have written a better script."
ESPN first reported the story Monday afternoon, citing the terms of the deal at five years and $78 million. A source familiar with the negotiations confirmed those numbers.
That ranks up there with Kobe giving his wife that multi-million dollar ring after he got in trouble because he was creepin....
