My God...

When I heard about this today, I knew he had to be living a dirty life. But now it appears it was mistaken identity.

The killer stood over 13-year-old Robert Freeman’s bleeding body and pulled the trigger again, again and again.

But though he was just feet from the 8th grader’s face on the Far South Side Wednesday night, the gunman got the wrong kid, police sources said.

Bloodstained pavement and a makeshift memorial of teddy bears Thursday morning marked the spot on the 11500 block of South Perry where the latest Chicago schoolboy murder victim fell, in an apparent case of mistaken identity.

“The doctor told me he found 22 bullet holes in my baby. Twenty-two,” said his devastated mother, Theresa Lumpkin, who ran from her home moments after the shooting to find Robert dying in the street outside.

What will happen to the real person who was supposed to be the target?

The thing about this is, people and the police seem to know the kid wasn't the one who was supposed to get shot. So, does the shooter get caught or does the shooter get street justice or does the shooter walk?

Bush and GOP Bamboozle

When the Republican controlled congress passed the TEMPORARY tax cuts, I said at the time that I was thankful for the cuts but I didn't understand (wink wink) why they were not enacted as permanent. Why did they have to sunset?

I knew it was all politics at the time and it was just about being able to say, later, that Democrats just want to raise taxes. But I maintained, then, and now, that the politics playing the Republicans and Bush did, showed more that they weren't really about fiscal responsibility, just staying in power.

To those who believed in the Bush tax cuts are are now really upset about the possibility of them sunsetting, to you I say, you've been bamboozled.

Rush Limbaugh is blasting Fox News for its coverage of Shirley Sherrod, saying that one of the network’s anchors “caved” by not showing the original misleading video fragment that led to the firing of Shirley Sherrod.

The video, posted and promoted by Andrew Breitbart as a display of racism, was a sensation in conservative corners of the Internet, but Fox News host Shepard Smith explained Wednesday that his show had decided to not show the video.

“We on Studio B did not run the video and did not reference the story in any way for many reasons,” Smith said. “Among them: We didn't know who shot it, we didn't know when it was shot, we didn't know the context of the statement, and because the history of the videos on the site where it was posted. In short, we did not and do not trust the source.”

OK, I was going to post about Shirley Sherrod and the NAACP and roast
them both. My intent was to have a post titled "Just Do Your Damn
Job!" but then I got a response to another post saying she was taken
out of context and the video is not complete. After looking for a

Sherrod told CNN on Tuesday the incident she discusses in the clip
took place more than two decades ago, and she recounted it to an
audience to make the point that people should move beyond race.

"I was telling the story of how working with him helped me to see the
issue is not about race," she said. "It's about those who have versus
those who do not have."

Sherrod said Tuesday that her remarks were taken out of context.

"I was speaking to that group, like I've done many groups, and I tell
them about a time when I thought the issue was race and race only,"
Sherrod said on CNN's "American Morning" from her home in Albany,
Georgia. The incident took place in 1986, while she worked for a
nonprofit and before she joined the Agriculture Department, she said.

A Georgia woman who said she believes her husband is the
farmer referenced in the clip told CNN on Tuesday that Sherrod was
helpful to her family and that the couple never felt she was being
racist while trying to assist them in avoiding foreclosure.

"She treated us really good and got us all we could," said Eloise
Spooner of Iron City, Georgia. Spooner said she remembered that
Sherrod helped find an attorney to help her husband, Roger.

She said she doesn't believe Sherrod is being treated fairly.

In the end, she said, the lawyer did not help the farmer and she "had
to frantically find a lawyer who would file a Chapter 11 to stop the
foreclosure.

Sherrod said she wound up being friends with the farmer and his wife.

She said she tried to explain her speech to USDA officials, "but for
some reason, the stuff Fox and the Tea Party does is scaring the
administration. I told them to get the whole tape and look at the
whole tape and see how I tell people we have to get beyond race and
work together."


I think she may have been screwed.

That Double Edged Sword

The public speaking out about the double edged sword called The Tea Party.

Yet some Republicans worry that tea-party candidates are settling too comfortably into their roles as unruly insurgents and could prove hard to manage if they get elected. Paul, who beat GOP establishment favorite Trey Grayson in Kentucky's primary, told the National Review that he would seek to join forces with GOP Sens. Jim DeMint (S.C.) and Tom Coburn (Okla.), "who are unafraid to stand up" and who have blocked numerous bills advanced by both parties deemed by the pair as expanding government.

"If we get another loud voice in there, like Mike Lee from Utah or Sharron Angle from Nevada, there will be a new nucleus" to advocate causes such as term limits, a balanced-budget amendment and "having bills point to where they are enumerated in the Constitution," Paul said in the interview.

Former Senate majority leader Trent Lott (R-Miss.), now a D.C. lobbyist, warned that a robust bloc of rabble-rousers spells further Senate dysfunction. "We don't need a lot of Jim DeMint disciples," Lott said in an interview. "As soon as they get here, we need to co-opt them."

This is going to get REAL interesting.

Killing Your Kid With Love

Later tonight I'm going to post a link to an article that is an example of loving your kid to death. This is a sad case and this is a situation where adults need to be adults no matter how much whining happens.

What this story isn't saying is John Crowder went back to his old neighborhood after his grandmother said he could come back home. The young man needed structure and discipline. His grandmother didn't provide the discipline.

In the toughest sections of Baltimore, even the most hopeful stories can end up breaking your heart.

That's what Brodie Crowder wants you to know about the murder of his cousin, John.

John Crowder spent most of the last two years trying to straighten out his life. He earned solid grades in his classes at Towson Catholic and Mount Carmel. On the basketball court, the 6-foot-8 teenager soared over competitors to snare rebounds and cram home dunks. Coaches knew him as a big puppy dog who greeted them with hugs and broke up the room with his crazy laugh. Division I recruiters had their eyes on him, and the scholarship he badly wanted seemed a sure thing.

That made it so much harder when the calls began buzzing around the city's tight-knit basketball community on Monday morning. The baby-faced kid, known as "Big John" since the sixth grade, had been shot and left bleeding in a yard near his grandmother's house in Northeast Baltimore. He died a few hours later at nearby Johns Hopkins Hospital. Police sources say he had drugs on him when he was found. No one has been arrested.

This young man had what many, too damn many, young Black men don't have, and that is people who care and who do things to help steer them to the right path and keep them there. The sad thing is, if he didn't have basketball skills, he probably would have met harm earlier.

IMO, his grandmother loved him so much she let him slide. That love killed him.

Since When Can't Employers Censor Speech?

Employers have the COURT APPROVED right to censor
speech and activity in the work place.

After an uproar from conservative bloggers and free-speech activists,
the Transportation Security Administration late Tuesday rescinded a
new policy that would have prevented employees from accessing websites
with "controversial opinions" on TSA computers at work.

The ban on "controversial opinion" sites, issued late last week, was
included as part of a more general TSA Internet-usage policy blocking
employee access to gambling and chat sites, as well as sites that
dealt with extreme violence or criminal activity.

But the policy itself became controversial as the Drudge Report and a
number of conservative bloggers highlighted the possibility that the
policy could be used to censor websites critical of the agency or of
the Obama administration in general. The American Civil Liberties
Union also questioned the language.


"Conservative bloggers" coming to THE DEFENSE of FEDERAL EMPLOYEES to
surf the web, spending FEDERAL MONEY, during the time they are
supposed to be working?

Independence Day

I'm grilling for the nuclear family. We may see fireworks tonight, depending on the mood of D.S. 2.0. He gets, shall we say, very strong willed when he lacks sleep and so far, we are not having a good day.

I'm grateful to God for allowing me to be with family, yesterday, and for securing my and my family's, nuclear and extended, safe travel and return. I'm grateful to God for placing me in my family and extended family, although not all has been wonderful and trouble free. I'm grateful to God for placing me in a family who is placed in a country, who, at this time, now has the relative freedom to try to be what they want to be.

The country didn't start off perfect and still is not perfect. The stain of slavery will forever bear it's mark on this country, but God Bless America, now and always.

The Last Airbender

A world is full of people who can master only one fundamental element. A person is born who has the ability to master all "fundamental elements" but that person is born into a group of people who master one element. When that person dies, he/she is born again to another group of people who master a different element. The person grows up and learns, again, to master all elements, and the Avatar line continues.

That's multiculturalism with a heavy dose of Earth worshiping.

I LOVED the anime series and look forward to seeing the movie.
