In a post somewhere here, P6 comments:
My position on Steele is, talk is cheap and I have nothing substantial to form an opinion on but his associations.
OK, I understand that point of view.
But let me flip it as I like to do.
In NY, when McCall was running for governor, Terry McCallufe (sp?), didn't fund the McCall campaign as he promised to do, at a time when the election appeared close. Some state that the additional funding could have aided McCall in making his case.
In a book by Ron Brown's daughter, she stated when Ron Brown ran for DNC chairman, there were a number of Democrats who said that Ron Brown must not win the race because they don't want a Black man to hold the position.
Right now, the national Democrat party is trying to "reach out" to white voters to show that the Democrat party is not THE party for Blacks.
I'm pressed for time, but there are more associations that I could make to show that Democrats must also be looked at with a skeptical eye.
So, I'm in Cobb's corner on this one.
More later, I'm under time constraints.
