The current talk about GM offering part of itself to Nissan and Renault makes no sense to me at all. Let me tell you why:
- GM had a partnership with Toyota in the 90s. What came of it?
- GM already has presence in Europe with Opel. From what I remember, Opel is considered to offer a decent product in Europe. But, when "Opel" cars are sent here, they fall flat because of the different tastes of the U.S. buyer and the European buyer. So what can Renault, a company that failed in the U.S., provide?
- Nissan is doing better in the U.S., but it is no Toyota, which is kicking butt.
There is more to this otherwise this makes no sense. Someone is using the stock market to bet against GM. And they are going to win big.
