Black Women of Essence, Inc. (BWOE)
Black Women of Essence, Inc. (BWOE) is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) Women of Color Organization. Our vision is to enhance the quality of life by providing resources, services, education, networking opportunities along with advocacy and promoting self-awareness within our communities. We believe when women improve the quality of their lives, the communities to which they contribute also improve. BWOE was built on a foundation of Sisterhood that allows us to strengthen, encourage, empower and embrace one another with genuine love. BWOE is comprised of a variety of women who are from different demographics (professional, social, geographic, age, education, economic, religion and race) but we all share the same visions for empowering each other and improving our communities. Our Sisterhood provides an atmosphere that is comfortable and related; we offer a listening ear, advice and experiences while respecting another Sisters opinion or beliefs and "agree to disagree". We were founded in the late spring / early fall of 1999. We began as an online Stay-at-home Black Mother’s email loop. We provided comfort, support, knowledge and a sisterly atmosphere to Expectant Mother’s and Mothers of Color.
