This blog will be about whatever suits my fancy. Chances are, it will concentrate on media misrepresentations of the American "Black community", Black politics, politics in general, and whatever else I want to mentally masturbate about.
RICHMOND -- After a barrage of nationwide criticism for excluding
slavery from his Confederate History Month proclamation, Virginia Gov.
Robert F. McDonnell (R) on Wednesday conceded that it was "a major
omission" and amended the document to acknowledge the state's
A day earlier, McDonnell said he left out any reference to slavery in the original seven-paragraph proclamation because he
wanted to include issues he thought were most "significant" to Virginia.
He also said the document was designed to promote tourism in the state,
which next year marks the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil
The declaration called on Virginians to "understand the sacrifices of
the Confederate leaders, soldiers and citizens during the period of the
However, Wednesday afternoon the governor issued a mea culpa for the
document's exclusion of slavery. "The proclamation issued by this Office
designating April as Confederate History Month contained a major
omission," McDonnell said in a statement. "The failure to include any reference to
slavery was a mistake, and for that I apologize to any fellow Virginian
who has been offended or disappointed."
To Gov. McDonnell and the proclamation supporters:
I piss on your confederate flag and I defecate on the proclamation, "adjusted" or not.
That is the same state that wanted to adjust the education curriculum to replace "slaves" with "citizens".
How will we ever get a leg up on hackers who areinfecting computers worldwide? Microsoft's security chief laid out several suggestions Tuesday, including a possible Internet usage tax to pay for the inspection and quarantine of machines.
Today most hacked PCs run Microsoft's Windows operating system, and the company has invested millions in trying to fight the problem.
If they had a more secure O/S, the problem would not be this bad. So, with that in mind:
So who would foot the bill?
"Maybe markets will make it work," Charney said. But an Internet usage tax might be the way to go. "You could say it's a public safety issue and do it with general taxation," he said.
In other words, Micro$oft has a problem that it wants EVERYONE ELSE to pay to help fix?
The Internal Revenue Service plans to test, register and screen people
who get paid to prepare tax returns, stepping into a virtually
unregulated business on which millions of Americans depend for crucial
The agency wants to crack down on preparers who do shoddy or fraudulent
work and create a way for consumers to make more informed choices --
though the moves could increase the cost of having tax returns
Yet, the I.R.S. question error rate error rate for questions answered is, I think, 40% 20%, AND, it has been ruled that if you base your return on answers the I.R.S. gave you, and the answers were wrong, you are still liable for the tax AND penalty if the I.R.S. audits you and finds the error!
Michael Steele, you are demanding an apology from Sen. Reid for comparing opposition to the health care bill to slavery. Frankly, I don't like what Sen. Reid said and I think an apology is appropriate. However, for YOU, Michel Steele, to ask for it, for YOU, a person who loves to say Blacks who are not Republicans are on the plantation, to make the demand, is outrageous!
But they also managed, in coming to the public charter school known as
KIPP Ujima Village Academy, to underscore another point: Obama is
serious about challenging teachers unions to think differently.
The academy, with 375 students in grades 5 to 8 in the Park Heights
neighborhood, is part of a national network called the Knowledge Is
Power Program. The school trimmed 45 minutes from its daily class
schedule and canceled Saturday classes this fall in response to a pay
dispute with the Baltimore Teachers Union. Longer school days and weeks
are part of KIPP's formula for raising student achievement in poor
KIPP leaders say they had paid their teachers a 20 percent premium
to work longer days, but the union had said the school was not paying
enough. So KIPP Ujima's school day is 8 1/2 hours instead of 9 1/4 .
That's still longer than a regular school day. But KIPP leaders contend
that the methods that produced some of the city's best test scores, in
a school where most students are from low-income families, have been
compromised and that the network might have to pull out of Maryland if
the conflict is not resolved.
Pulling out of Maryland is EXACTLY what the Maryland public school system wants! They don't want charter schools at all. In fact, Maryland has the strongest anti-charter regulations in the United States.
Andres A. Alonso, chief executive of Baltimore schools, joined Gingrich
and Sharpton and said he admires KIPP but wants all of the city's
schools to have autonomy and success. He said the city school system is
I understand Dr. Gates behavior after being confronted by the police officer and identifying himself as the home owner. Or, actually I understand WANTING to behave that way, BUT you don't mess with the po'lease.
You don't mess wit' the po-po.
You go humble, read his badge number and or tag and or identification on the cruiser and then you come back the next day, loaded with 'Tree and ready to fight.
But you don't mess with the man who, if he shoots you, is assumed to have shot for a good reason, gimpy knee or not.
The problem with this and all black role modeling. Only people with
racial hangups need black role models. And only people who want to
affect people with racial hangups want to be black role models. It is
one of the great temptations of my class of folks, those formerly known
as the Talented Tenth.
The first hour put the lie to the above quote, with efficiency and quickness.
I HATE lazy thinking. Cobb is now demonstrating lazy ass thinking more and more and I'm disgusted, especially when shots like the above are made. Frankly, he ought to be embarrassed. If he watched the first hour, and re-reads what he wrote, if the man has any shred of decency and thought, he'd write something saying, at least, that he has to reconsider some things, since he claimed he thinks all of the time.
A controversial suit brought by a U.S.
Army reservist has been joined by a retired Army two-star general and
an active reserve Air Force lieutenant colonel.
Frederick Cook filed the suit July 8 in federal court here asking for
conscientious objector status and a preliminary injunction based upon
his belief that President Barack Obama is not a natural-born citizen of
the United States and is therefore ineligible to serve as president of
the United States and commander-in-chief of the U.S. Armed Forces.
before the issue got to court, Cook’s orders to deploy to Afghanistan
were revoked. Lt. Col. Maria Quon, a public affairs officer with the
U.S. Army Human Resources Command-St. Louis, said Tuesday that Cook was
no longer expected to report Wednesday to MacDill Air Force Base in
Florida for mobilization to active duty. Cook, who claims he is now the
victim of retaliation due to his suit, received his mobilization orders
to report for active duty at MacDill on Wednesday. From there, he was
to go to Fort Benning on Saturday for deployment to Afghanistan.
See if you were Talented Tenth, then you already know about a litany of
black role models, because you study prior role models with a bit of
envy and a bit of spite. If you buy into what I call the role monkey
circus, then you already know that somehow you have to overcome the
same demons you intend to chase out of your followers. So you might
start during Black History Month with Carter G. Woodson and get enough
inspiration from him for you to be a beacon to others. And basically
you need enough self-esteem to assume the task, that plus the
initiative taken on Woodson, and an opportunity to play show and tell.
Bam, instant role model. Do it enough times for enough media and you
become a 'black leader'. Do it in a calculatedly brilliant way in
front of all America in the political arena and you might even become
Barack Obama. But the underlying premise never changes, you're a show
off in front of people who don't have the courage and demon-shields to
do for self.
I am an acquaintance of a man who used to be in the correctional system. Many times he has said he was tired of seeing men, especially Black men, on that end of the system, so he left the system to help men BEFORE they even have a chance to enter the system.
He's a pastor who speaks many times to Black men about Black men needing to take care of our health, being men of God, being good husbands and leaders of the family, being good fathers, being good providers.... Not struggling alone in issues that other men have.
At the regular men's breakfast on Saturday, a meeting/minstry/bonding group that he started, another man spoke for about 15 minutes about how he and his wife adopted a son and about he is now mentoring another teenage boy and how that mentoring is starting to positively affect the teenager's life. He encouraged us to look around and see what young boy needs a man in their life and to engage.
The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, the first black Greek letter
fraternity in the nation, understands the importance of a community of
support in every youth’s life, specifically focusing on fatherless
African American boys and their need for a strong, male role model. The
word mentor means a wise and trusted counselor or teacher or an
influential senior sponsor of supporter. Even boys with supportive
fathers in their lives can benefit from the program objectives set
forth by this altruistic group of young men and their mission to
nurture other male youth.
Through their partnership with the March of Dimes, Alpha Phi Alpha’s
Project Alpha seeks to provide mentoring to at-risk youth working
within the African American community. Project Alpha is a national
initiative that seeks to provide “education, motivation and
skill-building on issues of responsibility,” teaching young men ages 12
to 15 about fatherhood and the role of males in healthy relationships.
Their program includes education on abstinence, birth control, sexually
transmitted diseases and teen pregnancy in the hopes of inspiring wise
decision making in the future.
I listed "Project Alpha" because Cobb is an Alpha Man.
But why did I point out mentoring groups?
I pointed them out because mentoring IS role modeling, which Mike makes lite of in the quote above. When that kind of non-sense is put out there, it has to be smacked down with the fierceness.
I don't understand people's criticism of Obama for delaying comments about what is happening in Iran. Even if he said something almost immediately, the reaction of the leaders in Iran would still be the same. They really don't care what anyone in the U.S. says, and they know that our resources are taxed at this point, so there is not much we can do.
We have hot zones in Iraq and Afghanistan and our military on the DMZ between North and South Korea have to be protected and be given reinforcements given what N. Korea is doing. BTW, did President Bush do anything about N. Korea's nukes?
Yes, Iran is funding groups that are helping to keep things stirred up in Iraq, but so is Syria. I'd like to read the commentary about Syria causing a mess but the fact that they are backed by China may be the reason the commentary against Syria is muted.
Oh yeah, who really rules Iran? Suppose the president of the country is tossed out, what happens then? I'd gather more chaos since the president of Iran, no matter how nutty, doesn't have the real power.
I've been critical of the Obama administration, but on this one, I'm not saying a damn thing because I don't see the alternatives being given as being viable. So, STHU!
Whitey, don’t let the sun set on you in Bodymore, Murderland. That’s
neither an official or unofficial slogan for Baltimore yet, but it’s
not because some of our more dysfunctional citizens aren’t trying to
make it so.
The overwhelming majority of those bodies are black ones,
dispatched by black perps. But the few white bodies may end up giving
Baltimore a notorious reputation as a city where whites just aren’t
It's not safe for Blacks, but they don't matter? Kane is Black and still lives in the city, and has previously written about being a victim of crime, by Black people, in the city. But I don't recall something like the following line from Kane:
With leaders like this, would you, if you’re white, let the sun set on you in Baltimore?
Brian D. Morris, who resigned as Baltimore City school board chairman this week to accept a six-figure job overseeing school operations, has been the subject of dozens of lawsuits and bad-debt claims the past 15 years, including foreclosures, garnisheed wages, unpaid taxes and other cases involving his personal finances and business ventures, according to city court records.
The city school board hired Morris, 38, as a deputy CEO on Tuesday, giving him a $175,000 annual salary and oversight of all the school system's central operations, including finance.
Yet a review of dozens of court records by The Baltimore Sun shows a lengthy struggle to manage his own businesses and affairs. Bill collectors garnisheed Morris' wages and bank accounts, and tried to repossess his cars. Creditors won judgments against him for rent payments, medical bills and homeowners association dues. In one case, a potential business partner said Morris walked off with $12,500 intended for a new venture. In another, a couple said he rented them a house he didn't own and collected their monthly payments until the real owner ordered them to leave. At least two creditors say they plan to seek a portion of his school system salary to settle old debts.
A COUPLE PAID DUDE MONEY ON A HOUSE HE DIDN'T OWN!!!!!
[ UPDATE ]
To make this even MORE unbelievable, the Baltimore City Public School System sent out layoff notices a few days before this. LAYOFF NOTICES to about 80 people, and then turn around and give a financial goof and, if what the couple says is true, a THIEF, a $175K job created JUST FOR HIM!!!!
The Urban League came out with this year's State of Black America Report, and as usually, they presented the negative information, at least that's what I get out of the executive summary. Excuse me, but I ain't a fraction, 71.1%, of any person. And in the areas of solutions, the executive summary points to other people instead of Blacks. I have a real problem with that aspect.
Project 21's Martin noted: "The black community does not need to be
protected from capitalism, as the National Urban League's report seems
to imply. The black community needs to embrace capitalism. The free
market is where true opportunity lies."
I find it interesting, for example, the executive summary of the NUL report and Project 21 neglects to mention the growth in Black owned businesses. I find it interesting, that as I have pointed out before, both Black conservatives and Black liberals are overall negative about the Black community.
But it's interesting that Project 21 would criticize the NUL report as "unnecessarily dreary" but not say a word when Rush Limbaugh said the Black community hasn't advanced in 40 years.
Martin O'Malley wins the governor's race. Comes into Annapolis and promptly spends down all of the "rainy day fund" with spending political initiatives and pay raises for his core team.
He then says Maryland needs slots to counteract a "structural deficit" that has come about because of political initiatives he put in place. If he, and the state assembly would have held spending to current levels, there would not have been a deficit. But be that as it may, the special session occurred and slots was put on the ballot and the voters of Maryland voted for it. Meanwhile in this special session, tax increases were also passed even though people were saying economic troubles are around the corner and it's best to cut spending, not raise taxes.
But they didn't listen and now the economic bust is here and all over the state, "revenue" is down because businesses are not making as much money, but mostly because home prices have gone through the floor.
So, there were dire statements made about cutting programs and laying people off. They did enact forced furloughs, however.
But WAIT!!!!!! The "stimulus package" is passed and O'Malley is grinning from ear to ear saying the stimulus money means no cuts or layoffs!!!
Then comes the failure to get bids to cover all of the slots locations. It appears gambling companies refused to bid because the state wanted too much of "the take" and they were actually using it as a funding source.
But WAIT!!!!!! It turns out, now, that the stimulus money won't be enough and their WILL have to be cuts!!! But, they increased spending, AGAIN....
Yeah, that makes a hell of a lot of sense.
Maryland politicians, as a group, stink. And this is a one party state!
Look at the following situation. A woman wanted the merchandise she ordered and when the store worker told her they were out of stock, she requested her money back and the worker refused to return her money to her. She then called 9-1-1 to get her money back.
McDonald's workers refused to return her money to her when they said
they didn't have what she wanted. If she had eaten the food and then
wanted her money back, it would be silly. But, effectively, they stole
that woman's money.
Suppose you took something and refused to pay for it. They would call 9-1-1 in a heartbeat and you would be charged with theft or theft of services.
When I was younger, I got into such a similar dispute with a store and they would not return my money, I told THEM to call 911, and they did.
After the situation was explained to the policeman who responded, I was let go WITH my money.
People who are clowning this woman have been played. In my opinion, their actually the ones being clowned.
It isn't a white man who is standing in the way of education, it is a Black Democrat.
I'll say this again: Black Democrat politicians in the state
assembly of Maryland, don't give a damn about the education of Black
I touched up the picture of Wallace standing in the school door and put a Black face on it. I'm keeping the picture, but now the face represents not Black Democrat politicians in Maryland, but congressional Democrats who are going to kill the voucher program in Washington, D.C. because their masters the public education unions don't like the idea. Who cares if there are Black students have achieved under the program? Who cares if the Democrats know the students are going to be sentenced to put back into poor public schools?
As long as the masters are happy, the slaves don't matter.
