Romney said he isn't worried about the poor because the existing social net is in place and if there are holes, he is willing to patch the holes.
The problem is, welfare doesn't eradicate poverty, it sustains it at a certain level. From my point of view, in the long term, that's not what you want to happen. You want the family getting welfare to be able to earn enough so that they no longer need welfare. The same thing applies for WIC.
I'm just saying.
