Not that I have a desire to defend Joe Jackson, but many of the things Mikey did as an adult were to get back at Joe. MJ altered his appearance so as to delete the Jackson nose and delete the Jackson skin tone. The ultimate insult, in my opinion, was that he didn't even want his "children" to look like their "grandfather."
I've read a lot of descriptions of the Jackson household as being dysfunctional and Joe as a the demon seed, and I would caution against that. Afterall, other than Michael and possibly LaToya, all of Joe and Katherine's kids (7 of 9) grew up to be okay. Joe was probably strict and no-non-sense as a father, and his off-spring have impacted the world. I know we tend to blame parents for whatever their children ultimately do, but please don't blame my parents if I do something crazy.
Statement # 2, though maybe a little cold or distant, is nevertheless a true statement, and there is no need for Joe to express his emotions for the camera.
Regarding statement #3, Jaime Fox is an ass, has been an ass, and will be an ass into the foreseeable future.

That show was a Coon-A-Thon.
Period.

Oh yeah, I didn't watch the show, I'm not much into Awards Shows.
I'm sort of building my own tribute to MJ at DSB. A lot of the available YouTube videos are being pulled, but I intend to post all I can find prior to 1982.
