The Sopranos: Wimping of Men
So far, I have to say that "The Sopranos" is example A for the media wimpification of men in the media.
What is with Tony still in therapy? Other family bosses afraid to step up and take over because "they are too old"? Refusing to whack a drugged out captain? Letting your wife dictate to you how you do your business? A long time man in the family never whacking someone?
You're joking about not getting The Sopranos, right?

I get the Sopranos but I think, this season, the men are really being wimps. Mafia wimps?

Let us review...
This week, Phil Leotardo had Doc Santoro hit. The previous week Doc Santoro put the bite on Phil Leotardo's protege. And in the season premiere, Bobby clipped some guy as part of a illicit drug deal with some Canadiens. And then there was Chris' beat down of Tim Daly's character for a rewrite of the central character in 'Cleaver'.
The angst Tony has over Chris and Paulie is understandable. Both are good earners, if not ideally suited for capo a tutti capo (?) status. I believe Chris is back on the wagon, anyway. One of the things I find that's most realistic about The Sopranos is the wives & family members' frequent moral dissonance.
You're married, Ed. You mean to tell me that there are things you know (or feel) should be handled one way, but your spouse -- unaware of the full backstory and implications
for acting -- influences you to act otherwise?
